Strengthening resilience as a means of adaptation to drought and climate change in communities in South West Africa - Angola and Namibia (ADSWAC): The OSS organizes a remote consultation workshop to complete the ADSWAC project, April 15, 2020.

The OSS continues its activities, despite the exceptional pandemic situation of COVID 19, and organizes a second remote regional consultation workshop in order to establish a joint reflection on the ADSWAC project. This workshop brings together approximately 20 people including representatives of the affected countries, namely Angola and Namibia and representatives of the OSS.

The main objective of the workshop is to validate, through a participatory process, the project concept note which will soon be submitted to the funding of the Adaptation Fund. It also aims to collect the expectations and needs of all participants and explain relevant points, with a view to completing the project concept note to be submitted to the Adaptation Fund.

The workshop is also an opportunity for the participants to know about the scope of the ADSWAC project, the related risks and the objectives to achieve during the implementation period. The opening was assured Mr. Khatim Kherraz, the OSS Executive Secretary, who paid thanks to the participants for their presence despite the constraints due to the pandemic, and reminded that this participative workshop should help complete the project concept note.

The ADSWAC project aims to strengthen the adaptation capacity and resilience of communities to the impacts and variability of climate change, mainly drought, in the trans-boundary region between Angola and Namibia. It will be implemented the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and executed at the national level the ADPP Angola (Ajuda de Desenvolvimento de Povo para Povo) & the DAPP Namibia (Development Aid from People to People) for the benefit of Angola & Namibia.
