A GMES & Africa program delegation meets with partners and end users of the OSS-developed Water, Agriculture and Land services, March 29-31, 2021

The Sahara & Sahel Observatory received in Tunis, a delegation from the African Union's GMES & Africa program coordination unit, led by Dr Tidiane Ouattara, coordinator of the GMES & Africa program & including Dr Bachir Saley, Director in charge of water &natural resources & Ing. Hamdi Kacem, Technical Assistant of the program.

One of the mission highlights were the visits to direct beneficiaries & end users of the GMES services developed by the OSS, leader of the North Africa Consortium.

In this context, field meetings were held at the level of the Manouba & Bizerte Regional Commissioners for Agricultural Development which enabled the project management unit to inquire about the added value of the project services within the framework of their assignment, in particular through the OSS-developed water, agriculture & land monitoring platforms (MISBAR & MISLAND).

Videoconference interviews were also held with national partners (Algeria, Libya & Mauritania, members of the North Africa consortium) in order to collect their feedback on the project implementation.
The delegation also aimed to discuss with the OSS the teachings & prospects for GMES & Africa, the 1st phase of which is due to finish at the end of 2021.
