A workshop dedicated to the review of the draft report on the Tunisian Country Programme was organized by the Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment (MALE), with the support of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), as delivery partner of the "Readiness - Tunisia" project (preparation for access to GCF-climate finance opportunities and establishment of the National Designated Authority - NDA).
This workshop, which brought together the Readiness-Tunisia team (representatives of the Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment - MALE and the Sahara and Sahel Observatory - OSS), members of the NDA/Focal point of Tunisia to the GCF, the regional representative of the GCF, as well as institutions and stakeholders who participated in the country programme development process.
The workshop provided an opportunity to discuss the country programme report in which a programmatic approach was adopted. On this occasion, the list of programs proposed in the pipeline was discussed with a view to prioritizing the related programs while taking into consideration the government's strategic orientations and the requirements of the GCF eligibility criteria.
The main areas of activity for the projects identified at the country programme level are renewable energy and energy efficiency for mitigation projects, and ecotourism, health, agriculture, water resources and natural ecosystems for adaptation projects.
On this occasion, the Focal Point of Tunisia to the GCF, Mr Chokri Mezghani, announced the agreement given by the GCF for a new phase of Readiness Tunisia.
