Feedback of a fruitful OSS mission in East Africa, great prospects for the future, March 2021

Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, Executive Secretary of the OSS paid a working visit to Uganda & Ethiopia from March 15 to 19, 2021.

During his various meetings, the Executive Secretary had the opportunity to introduce the Organization, its 2030 strategy & its achievements. He also expressed the needs & expectations & discussed the possibilities for collaboration.

Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra met with Mr. Sam Cheptoris, the Ugandan Minister of Water Resources and Environment as well as the Adaptation Fund financed EURECCCA project national coordinator & his team.

At the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, promising prospects for collaboration stemmed from discussions with Dr. Godfrey Bahiigwa, Director of the Rural Economy & Agriculture Department & Dr. Mahama Ouedraogo, Director of the Human Resources, Science & Technology Department. A meeting with Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, Coordinator of the GMES & Africa program, allowed to discuss the new prospects of the space observation-dedicated GMES program.

In addition to his meetings, the Executive Secretary of the OSS sat with HE Mr. Adelhamid Gharbi, Ambassador of Tunisia in Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the African Union, as well as HE Mr. Salah Miloud Sahboun, Ambassador of the Arab League in Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU.

Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra took the opportunity to confirm the OSS commitment to support the efforts of African countries, political organizations & technical institutions in the actions they undertake in order to achieve the objectives of the 2030 United Nations & 2063 African Union agendas.
